Jake Dennis Wins Season Opener for Porsche Customers Team Andretti

On Saturday, December 6, 2025, Jake Dennis, driving for Porsche Customers Team Andretti, won the opening race of the

2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship at the São Paulo Grand Prix.

The former world champion started from pole position in the 30-lap race. Near the end of the race, the Porsche Taycan

Turbo GT safety car intervened. After the safety car withdrew, Dennis regained the lead with a final attack mode sprint

and ultimately won. After a red-flag phase and a final lap after the restart, the British driver secured his first Formula E

victory since the 2024 Riyadh Grand Prix. Saturday also happened to be Andretti team principal Roger Griffiths' birthday.

The Porsche Formula E team finished with both drivers scoring points, allowing the Stuttgart-based sports car

manufacturer to start the season as the reigning Constructors' and Manufacturers' World Champions. Factory drivers

Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller drove the high-performance Porsche 99X Electric to fourth and fifth place respectively.

Wehrlein qualified 0.302 seconds ahead of second place, securing his third consecutive pole position in São Paulo and

earning 3 points, but was penalized three places for a qualifying violation, ultimately starting fourth.

The former world champion remained in the leading group throughout the 2.933 km street circuit, eventually equaling his

best result (fourth) at the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix. Felipe Drugovich, in front of his hometown crowd and in his

debut race with Andretti, finished fifth, but was penalized for a violation under the yellow flag, ultimately dropping out of

the points. This result means that the Andretti Formula E team is tied with the Porsche factory team in the constructors'

championship, while Porsche leads in the manufacturers' championship.
